In Saint Petersburg in Nevskaja curtain of the Peter and Paul Fortress today presentation of the project "Ice house on the Neva" is held. "Ice" sculptors of province Norbotten (Sweden) will give a present to Northern capital of Russia - will construct in January of the next year on a beach of the Peter and Paul Fortress the Ice house in the area of 600 square meters. The initiator of the project "Ice house on the Neva " - General consulate of Kingdom Sweden in Russia.
Sculptures of ice will become "inhabitants" of the Ice house. They will be created by participants of special competition which will be carried out by the Fund of the Museum of city from January, 29 till January, 31, 2003. 10 teams from different countries of the world: Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, Netherlands, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Czechia and two commands from Russia will take part in it. The closing ceremony of the competition will be held February, 1. Three winners will receive monetary prizes at a rate of 1500, 1000 and 500 dollars. Sculptures from ice will please petersburgers duing one and a half months (if, on a nature’s whim, they will not thaw earlier).
