This year around St. Petersburg there will be twice as many decorations as in the last year.

Because the year 2003 will be the jubilee year for the Northern capital, along with the traditional images of Xmas trees, snowmen, Santa Clauses and other New Year symbols, the elements reminding about the forthcoming 300-anniversary will be used for decoration of St. Petersburg.

The works on the New Year event decoration of St. Petersburg will be accomplished on December 22. St. Petersburg streets will be decorated with 7.5 km of garlands which is three times as much as than during the previous holiday. Besides, more than 200 cantilever decoration as well as holiday shields and constrictions will be used.

About 5 thousand toys will be used for decoration of Xmas trees.
