Questions of the transport infrastructure in St. Petersburg 300-anniversary were discussed The Staff on coordination of transportation activities in St. Petersburg considered the questions of support for the forthcoming meeting of chiefs of states of the Russian Federation, the European Union and the “G-8” chiefs.

The city administration workers pointed that by the present moment at St. Petersburg’s railway stations in full course the repairs work has been taking place. Special attention has been paid to the construction of the Ladozhsky railway station. Due to the jubilee there are plans to construct the box of the building together with the facades and inner engineering networks finishing, to accomplish the platforms for commuter and far reaching trains, to introduce the complex system of information management and telecommunications of the railway station complex. The cost of work will comprise 3,890 million rubles. In 2001 the capital investment limit in the sum of 960 million rubles was reached, for the current year, on November 1, 1,964 million rubles has been used under the limit of 2,765 million rubles.

There are plans to open a high-speed train traffic between St. Petersburg and Moscow, as well as put into exploitation a high-speed 25-minute commuter train from the Baltiysky railway station to Petershof due to St. Petersburg’s 300th anniversary.

The “Pulkovo” airport management jointly with the St. Petersburg administration are leading a complex of organizational and technical activities on reconstruction of airport complexes. For these purposes Russia’s Ministry of Finance allocated 467 million rubles; from the city’s budget 12.5 million rubles has been allocated.

Heavy pressure will take on St. Petersburg’s bus station. For the last three years the traffic turnover has increased three times. In 2000 the reconstruction of the station without stopping the traffic started. For the present moment the arrival-departure zone has been reconstructed, before May 2003 the bus station complex will be regularly functioning renewed.
