December, 28 there was a Christmas meeting of the Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga, Vladimir, with the leading mass-media chiefs of the Northern capital at the Alexandro-Nevskaya Lavra. The meeting was devoted to the 40th anniversary of the member of higher orders of clergy service of the Metropolitan Vladimir which will be solemnly celebrated on December 30, this year.

The Metropolitan congratulated all the present with the coming New Year and Christmas. He especially noted that the city of St. Petersburg steps into the jubilee year and said that a lot of citizens of various countries address him with the wish to visit the city on the Neva and take part in its 300th anniversary celebration.

According to the Metropolitan Vladimir, all over the world not only St. Petersburg’s beauty is esteemed but also the fact that “during the Second World War the city brought itself as a sacrifice in the name of salvage of the civilization, and that its citizens stood strong upon the way of the invaders and got memorialized in the world history”. The Metropolitan congratulated the St. Petersburgers and guests of the Northern capital with the forthcoming 300th anniversary and wished that the forthcoming year be without excesses and lead to success and well-being of the city.
