President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yuri Osipov and Vice-President of the Academy Zhores Alferov have been working on the package of documents to be sent to the International Astronomy Union asking to name a small planet St. Petersburg-300. The press service of the Tercentennial Committee told the IPC that the small plant in question was discovered by the St. Petersburg Institute of Applied Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The Tercentennial Committee is planning for the name certificate for St. Petersburg-300 to be awarded during the opening ceremony of St. Petersburg tercentennial festivities on May 23, 2003.
