St. Petersburg hotels split foreign delegations among themselves
Large hotels in St. Petersburg have recently determined, which hotel will be hosting what delegations for St. Petersburg tercentennial celebrations.Grand Hotel Europe was designated to provide accommodation to European delegations from Great Britain, France, Ireland, Austria and Spain, and the Canadian delegations. The American delegation of 850 will live in Pulkovskaya Hotel. Japanese, Danish and Belgian delegations, and the delegation of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly will be staying at Nevskij Palace Hotel. The orchestra of Metropolitan Opera, delegations from Scandinavian countries and the Luxembourg delegation will be accommodated at Radisson SAS Royal Hotel. Astoria Hotel will welcome 200 delegates from China, and Angleterre will be home away from home for Indian, Greek, and Dutch delegations. Russian and CIS delegations will live at Moskva Hotel, as will 150 school students from Baltic states. Reporters, most of them from Russia, as well as the BBC crew, organizing world coverage of the gala concert at Mariinsky Theater will be accommodated at Pribaltiiskaya Hotel. During the festivities each hotel will be adequately protected. Security guards will be provided by the Department of the Interior, and “men in black” from the Federal Security Service and Federal Guard Service. Most heads of state and their staff will reside in Konstantinovsky Palace in Strelna. Only leaders of China, India and the United States will be accommodated in downtown hotels. Heads of state will travel to their destinations by water, so as not to complicate the traffic situation in the city.
