Parker made 300 exclusive Duofold St. Petersburg pens marking the city’s tricentennial. Precious metals were used in manufacturing these unique writing utensils.
Duofold St. Petersburg pens are made from 18 carat gold and are coated with platinum. In the creators’ opinion this precious metal is the best expression of Northern Palmyra’s cold grandeur. The cap is decorated with one of the symbols of St. Petersburg, the Admiralty ship, which is the official emblem of the city’s jubilee. Like all other design details, it is platinum-coated. The pen’s dark-blue body is decorated with wave-like engraving meant to portray the waves of the Neva. Each pen has its own number and is covered by the life-long Parker warranty. This gorgeous writing instrument costs 1 thousand US dollars.
In addition to the Duofold St. Petersburg series, 10 Duofold St. Petersburg Golden pens have been made. These utensils are twice as unique and splendid: they are coated with 23 carat gold, the pen is made from 18 carat gold and partly platinum-coated. The gilt body is likewise decorated with wave engraving. Each pen has its own number, quality certificate and life-long warranty. These writing instruments do not have purchase price because they are not intended for sale. Duofold St. Petersburg Golden pens will be presented to members of the Government of the Russian Federation, Administration of St. Petersburg and prominent figures of the city’s culture and arts.
It is noteworthy that the Duofold St. Petersburg pens are made exclusively for Russia and will not be officially supplied to any other countries.
In 1965 the company made a series of pens commemorating the Spanish Fleet sunk in 1715. In 1968, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the beginning of the US cosmos exploration, 250 pens were produced with buttons made from the material of the launcher Atlas (all of them are kept in private collections). In 1981 the collection marking the wedding of Lady Diana and Price Charles appeared, in 2002, a series of gilt writing utensils with amethysts celebrating the 50th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth.
