On 2 June, 2003, the jubilee publication "St. Petersburg: 1703-2003", the unique publication dedicated to the history of St. Petersburg and prepared under the program "Russian Style", was presented. This publication shows various stages in Saint-Petersburg foundation and growth and describes its historical and cultural treasures. This 1112-page volume has been prepared by 40 museums, charities, archives, educational institutions and commercial companies. The Board of Editors has been headed by Mikhail B. Piotrovsky, Director of the Hermitage. Prominent historians and artists, who have taken part in the creation of this book, provide a multi-faceted and profound analysis of the historical and cultural phenomenon of St. Petersburg. The publication contains unique old and modern photographs and reproductions of paintings and drawings.

This project has been carried out jointly with the Office of the President of the Russian Federation. The book opens a series of publications dedicated to the jubilees of Russia’s major cities.
