Private Pilots Back On the Job at Port

A six-day strike involving privately operating harbour pilots in the city's port officially came to an end on Saturday, with the port and cargo companies still unsure of the total losses incurred as a result and the two sides disagreeing over the nature of the settlement.

According to Andrei Markelov, the press secretary for the sea port administration, losses incurred by the port were in the neighborhood of 7 million rubles (about $240,000) per day during the peak of the strike-induced slowdown.
