Russian Farmer" International fair opens Monday in St. Petersburg. As the fair organizers told RIA "Novosti", "Russian Farmer" celebrates its 10th birthday this year.
Vice-minister, Minister of agriculture Alexey Gordeev and President's plenipotentiary in the North-West federal district Victor Cherkesov are expected to be present at the grand opening.
More than 1 thousand enterprises from 48 Russian districts and 35 countries will participate in the fair. Production of Republic of Komi will be widely presented for the first time. There also are scientific conferences, seminars, round-table discussions, charity and sports actions included in the programme. Moreover, a selection of participants for the "Green Week - 2001"exhibition in Berlin will be held. The contenders' production will be estimated by German experts. An expert commission including representatives of the Russian Agricultural Academy, Ministry of Agriculture and agricultural enterprises, was appointed to conduct the "Golden Medal" contest. Its results and winners rewarding will take place on September 2 - the last day of the fair's work.
