St. Petersburg is still keeping its second position, after Moscow, in luring of investments among the Russia's regions. Though investors have certain interests in new projects, the greatest part of capital was invested into already existing enterprises of machine-building, telecommunication and food industry. As a particular feature of St. Petersburg external economic activity a growth of import by 48 per cent was estimated last year.
