“Advanced warships for Greece can be built only in St. Petersburg”, - announced new Consul General of Greece to St. Petersburg Ionnis Lakatzis at the meeting with St. Petersburg’s Governor Vladimir Yakovlev.
The meeting discussed future development of relations between Greece and St. Petersburg, including priority directions of cooperation, which Governor considers to be shipbuilding, supplies of turbines for power plants, tourist exchange and trade.
At present ALMAZ Shipbuilding Company is realizing the project of world’s biggest landing hovercrafts for the Greek Navy. I. Lakatzis emphasized that Greek people owe much to Russia and never forget it. According to him, it is not for nothing that St. Petersburg’s Hermitage stores the greatest collection of ancient Greek vessels of 4-6th centuries B.C. and the stature of Aphrodite of the third century B.C.
