Lufthansa aircraft may be forbidden to fly over Russia

Lufthansa aeroplanes won't fly over Russia? According to German sources, the reason for such a move is the ban for Russian aircraft having noise level characteristics uncomplying with the requirements to fly into EU countries. The Russian party demands to make an exception for Pulkovo Airlines (St. Petersburg) – the third largest airline in Russia, as its fleet consists mostly of old aeroplanes that turn out to be forbidden to make flights to EU countries.

This may become a very heavy blow for Lufthansa, as it is the most active company on the Russian market, making 72 flights a week to CIS countries. Moreover many Asian flights of Lufthansa pass over Russia.

Though the Russian Ministry of Transport does not acknowledge the fact of ultimatum.
