Today was the opening of the forum, where St. Petersburg governor Vladimir Yakovlev gave speech. He reported on the state of St. Petersburg industry, on the reform of Russian taxation system.
He gave an example of the city industrial achievements by citing St. Petersburg seaport turnover amounting to 11mln tones for the year of 1995, for 2001 - already amounting to 37.6mln tones and for the first two quarters of 2002 - to 40mln tones.
The amount of foreign investment has increased considerably for the same period. Within our city Big success can be stated in the sphere of education: St. Petersburg students are getting first places at the Olymliade on computer science taking place in the USA. Finally, Yakovlev stated that he is ready for further dialogue with the Italian part on various aspects of cooperation and invited the businessmen to come for celebration of tercentenary of Our city.
