The chairman of the Central Electoral Committee Alexander Veshnjakov has suggesred to combine elections of the governor of Saint Petersburg to 2004 with presidential elections. As he said, presidential elections of Russia will be held, most likely, March, 14, 2003. This date in the first reading was approved by the State Duma, and it, in opinion of the head of the Central Electoral Committee, at the subsequent readings of the law about purpose of presidential elections already hardly will change.
Combination of elections, Veshnjakov considers, would be convenient for voters and would positively be reflected in the general organization of selective process.
