A delegation of Belgian business people, headed by Patricia Ceysens, the Flemish minister of foreign trade, will visit here early next month. The Committee for External Relations of the city administration said the business group would be in the Northern capital September 7-10. The 60-strong delegation will represent more than 30 firms from a variety of fields-shipping, consumer goods and construction materials, additives for the food industry and machine building. The visit is intended to foster business relations with potential partners in Saint Petersburg.
The minister of external trade also will meet with leaders of the Saint Petersburg Administration and Leningrad Region, learn about the operation of the port of Saint Petersburg and visit the State Hermitage Museum. Ceysens also will take part in a presentation by Belgium Central Europe Network, which specializes in the development of cooperation between Belgian firms and the countries of Eastern Europe, including Russia.
The most strongly represented sector in the Belgian delegation will be shipping and port operations. In this connection, representatives of the most important Belgian ports-Antwerp, Zeebrugge and Ostend-are preparing a presentation for Russian companies.
