Negotiations have been held in Berlin on a joint German-Russian project to reform the housing facilities in Saint Petersburg. As Rosbalt was informed by Nikolai Pitirimov, chairman of the Saint Petersburg union of landlords, the German delegation included representatives of the Ministry for Transport, Construction and Housing, the non-commercial organization Housing in Eastern Europe, Hanover University and the construction company Berlin-Mitte. The Russian delegation included representatives of the Saint Petersburg administration, the legislative assembly, the union of Saint Petersburg landlords and others.
The two sides agreed to try to attract loans to provide better living conditions in mass-produced paneled buildings. They also want to create a joint company that will manage and oversee the implementation of these projects in Saint Petersburg.
An intergovernmental agreement was signed in July 2003 between the Russian State Construction Department and the German Ministry of Transport, Construction and Housing to collaborate in the area of construction and housing.
