Investment in the Leningrad Region grew by 27 percent in 2003 year on year to reach 34 billion rubles ($1.26 billion), Interfax quoted the Region governor's press service as saying Monday.
"This is real money contributed to the development of the real sector and not international fund loan resources weighted by high interest rates that other regions are often proud of receiving," the Region government spokesperson said.
Industrial production in the Leningrad Ragion was up by 20.9 percent last year. Products worth 117.8 billion rubles were manufactured in the Region last year.
