The World Monument Fund is planning to invest 455 thousand Euros in reconstruction of the Chinese Palace in the town of Oranienbaum in 2004, according to the Chairperson of the State Monuments Protection Committee, Vera Dementieva.

The strategy of approach and design of the first program to restore the whole palace in Oranienbaum should be ready by June 1.

Vera Dementieva also stated that the Oranienbaum Restoration Fund was being created in St. Petersburg under the aegis of the Governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matvienko. German Gref and Sergei Frank have become co-chairpersons of the fund.

“Now there is no danger of losing the palace, which will be restored using convalescent methods”, Vera Dementieva concluded.
