The German corporation ‘Bosch-Siemens Hausgeraete GmbH’ is considering the Vsevolozhsky District in the Leningrad Region as an alternative to place its production, as the Chief Executive of the Vsevolozhsky District, Igor Samokhin, said.
In his words, the German company is now making feasibility studies of the project, examining the economic background and exploring ecological consequences. The Munich experts of ‘Bosch-Siemens Hausgeraete GmbH’ have confirmed that the company is searching for land to place its production, and Russia is regarded as an option to start the project. The final decision, however, will be taken in late 2004. The 2003 results showed that the company’s turnover in Russia increased by 10%, which outstripped the indicators of other countries in Central and Eastern Europe. “We can see a positive perspective for our company to advance business eastward. This trend will enable us to develop production volume not only in places that are cheap to run business in, but also in places with well-developed markets. In this respect Russia is worth paying special attention to”, the Munich board of ‘Bosch-Siemens Hausgeraete GmbH’ said. Igor Samokhin seems to be more optimistic. He said ‘Bosch-Siemens’ had already scrutinized all the neighboring districts in the Leningrad Region, and the industrial zone in the town of Vsevolozhsk, which has lots of the largest workshops in the Leningrad Region, seemed to be the most appropriate place to locate the German production. Igor Samokhin is looking forward to signing a contract within six months. His sources say the German company is likely to produce refrigerators. The regional Committee for Economy and Investments said that ‘Bosch-Siemens’ had not yet submitted a production placement bid.
