Sweden's Electrolux Group will build a plant in St. Petersburg to produce washing machines, the city's Deputy Governor Yury Molchanov told at the press conference.

Investments into the construction are expected to amount to 70 million euros.

According to Molchanov, the plant is expected to be launched in January 2005 and will produce washing machines under the Electrolux and Zanussi brands.

Electrolux is the world's largest producer of appliances and equipment for kitchen, cleaning and outdoor use. Electrolux is also one of the largest producers in the world of similar equipment for professional users.
