Japanese carmaking major Nissan will decide on construction of a plant in Russia by April 1, the governor of the Leningrad Region said Thursday.
Valery Serdyukov said Nissan representatives had visited St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region in Russia's northwest this week to inspect possible sites. He added that the company was also considering sites in other regions.
"According to our information, they will make a decision by April 1," Serdyukov said, adding that Nissan and the Economic Development and Trade Ministry were expected to sign an agreement on the plant's construction when a decision is made.
