The subscriber base of Russia?s third largest national GSM mobile operator MegaFon in the Northwest Federal District increased 10% since January 1 to over 6 million people as of Tuesday, the company's branch in the district said in a press release Wednesday.
In addition to mobile services, MegaFon provides Wi-Fi services in the district through its 13 hot spots in St. Petersburg, and mobile TV services, which were launched in late 2005, the company said.
MegaFon?s northwest affiliate represents MegaFon in St. Petersburg, as well as in the Leningrad, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Novgorod and Pskov regions, the constituent republic of Karelia, and the Nenets Autonomous District.
MegaFon's total subscriber base stood at 24.813 million users as of April 30.
