Global Electric Motorcars vehicles produced here will be used to transport people during the upcoming Group of Eight summit in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The Russian government has purchased 30 four-passenger GEM electric vehicles, at the request of President Vladimir Putin, the company said.
Each vehicle will be decorated with a participating country's national flag and the official logo of the 2006 G8 summit of leading industrialized nations, July 15-17.
"It's an honor for GEM to be participating in this important international event for a second time," said Rick Kasper, president and chief operating officer of Global Electric Motor Cars LLC.
GEM provided 38 vehicles for the 2004 G8 summit held at Sea Island, Ga.
