Google chose Saint Petersburg for its second R&D center in Russia

google_office Google officially announced that it will be opening its second Russian research and development center in Saint Petersburg.

According to the company, the new R&D center will participate in the development of innovative search and search-related products for both Russian and global markets.

It is the second R&D center in Russia; the other was established in Moscow earlier this year. Google said Russia is one of the two countries outside the US where it has more than one such center.

‘Google's investment in St. Petersburg continues to demonstrate our commitment to Russia as a market and as a country for hiring exceptional engineering talent’, Alan Eustace, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Research at Google said.

The company also said in a statement that the new research and development center in St. Petersburg will employ a group of engineers who previously worked for Borland.
