Unilever, the English-Dutch manufacturer of foods and home care, has considered Russia the right place for its largest production center. As it has become known, soon the company is planning to start export of shower gels produced at its factory in St. Petersburg to Great Britain and Ireland. In the nearest future products from Russian integrated companies will be directed to South Africa, Argentina and Australia. Besides, Unilever is going to transfer the most part of its European manufacturing facilities to Russia. Within the next 3-5 years the company will invest up to 190mn dollars in the Russian economy.
Unilever was founded ion 1930 and is the second world largest manufacturer of leading brands in foods, home care and personal care. It owns such brands as Lipton, Knorr, Dove, Rexona along with Cif, Domestos, Omo and Persil. Unilever entered the Russian market in 1992. Since then, it has acquired a perfume and cosmetic factory in St. Petersburg, Moscow margarine factory and the plant producing bouillon cubes and packet soups along with potato flakes in Tula.
