The 12th St. Petersburg international economic forum will be held on June 6-8, 2008, the forum's organizing committee said.
"The forum is held annually with the support and participation of the Russian president and gathers world leaders to discuss topical economic issues facing Russia and other countries," a spokesman for the organizing committee said.
The 11th St. Petersburg forum was attended by more than 9,000 participants from 65 countries, including presidents, the heads of governments and parliaments, ministers, and representatives of the Russian and international business elite, the spokesman said.
"This year, the forum will be held 100 days after the presidential elections in Russia. The forum's program will include expert discussions on a wide range of issues, from the latest trends in the global economy to the construction of modern buildings in historical areas in large cities," the spokesman said.
Traditionally, during the first day of its work, the forum focuses on global economic issues and the efficiency of integration efforts amid the increasing role of emerging economies. The forum's Russia Day is expected to focus on Russia's medium-term development strategy.
