"JSC “Russian Railways” (RZD) in 2009 send to the investment project on the organization of high-speed passenger motion on the Moscow - St. Petersburg 2.6 billion rubles", - said the press service of the company.
Target for 2009 is the preparation of the Moscow - St. Petersburg part to the motion of a high-speed trains "Sapsan" at a speed of 200 km / h.
JSC "Russian Railways" on March 15 hosted the first test run of high-speed train Sapsan "on the route Saint-Petersburg - Moscow. According to the company president Vladimir Yakunin, the train has covered the distance between the two capitals in 6 hours at a speed of 180 km / h.
The aim of the project a reduction in the time course of passenger trains on the route Moscow - St. Petersburg to 3 hours and 45 minutes. It’s planned that the reconstructed line will be commissioned at the end of 2009.
