Leading Russian law firm Capital Legal Services has launched an office in Finland, the first Russian firm to do so.
Capital Legal Services has opened in Helsinki and is hiring two senior lawyers to target international companies based in the region. The Russian firm will be based in the offices of the Lindholm Wallgren. Managing partner Vladislav Zabrodin said there was a great opportunity to do business with local firms which did not have a presence in Russia. ‘There is significant interest from Finnish firms which are not going to open in Russia,’ he said, adding that the new office would make it easier to connect with Russia. He added that there was many American, Japanese and Korean companies which had set up in Finland as a stepping stone to Russia.
The firm had originally been talking to Lindholm Wallgren last year about a co-operation arrangement since last October. However, founding partner Tomas Lindholm, who was a high profile international lawyer, passed away suddenly in January 2014.
Capital Legal Services is one of the premier Russian law firms with a range of leading international and Russian clients. Founded in 1999, its offices are in Moscow and St Petersburg. The firm is highly ranked in Chambers & Partners in areas such as corporate/M&A, antitrust, public-private partnership and dispute resolution.
