The dawn of a new era in the history of mankind begins on the day of the Spring Equinox, which also is the first day of Spring. An action marking the beginning of the new millenium's first spring day was conducted in 28 cities located in 21 countries of the world. St. Petersburg was chosen as the site for encountering this International Dawn in Russia. 1,000 balloons rose from Peter-and-Paul's fortress's Petrovsky Bastion with the first rays of dawn today.
