Usage of water in St. Petersburg lowers by 5%.

A project of technical aid to St. Petersburg Vodokanal organization was adopted at the fifth meeting of the Russian-Norwegian Intergovernmental Commission on October 26, 2000. In the course of its realization, Vodokanal has installed water measuring devices and other equipment at St. Petersburg enterprises costing a total of 2.5 million Norwegian Krons. As a result, usage of water was lowered by at least 5%, which decreased the ecological pressure on the Finnish Bay. St.Petersburg is interested in the continuation of this project but at the present moment City Administration does not possess information on the Norwegian government's plans with regard to its financing.
