Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) will loan the city $30 million to build water purification facilities. According to Helsingin Sanomat newspaper, Director of NIB Martin Relander said that this decision is the first practical step towards the realization of the project. The final scheme of its financing will be worked out in September. It is planned to put South-Western purification facilities into operation in 2004. The construction will begin next year. The operation of these purification facilities will reduce the amount of waste products disposed into the Finnish Bay and Neva River by one third. Source: dp.ru.
