The main objectives of the forum are to meet the need for a broad, representative and independent discussion on economic development of the CIS countries, on their role in the global economic process and on prospects for the formation of new markets, as well as to facilitate attraction of capital to the economies of these countries and, in particular, to enhance the investment appeal of Russian regions.
Participants of the forum will include representatives of more than 50 foreign countries and of over 30 international organizations, including the United Nations, UNESCO and the Council of Europe.
The Fifth St. Petersburg Economic Forum is held on the initiative of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation, and in co-operation with the Government of the Russian Federation.
