Wax figure of Anatoly Sobchak exhibited in Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace.
A solemn opening of the Wax Figure Museum´s exhibit with a new sculpture of former Mayor of St. Petersburg Anatoly Sobchak with a set of laws in his hands (to the right) took place yesterday. Work on this sculpture was begun by artist Anatoly Vasiliev in fall, 2000. He based his work on anthropological data. The last two months were devoted to some finishing touches on the figure. Consultant Ludmila Narusova played the main role in this work. During the first week (up until June 20) entrance to this exhibit, devoted to Anatoly Sobchak´s first election to the post of Mayor, will be free. After that the sculpture will occupy a place in the museum´s exposition. It will stand next to the figure of Academician Andrei Sakharov. Photo by S. Smolsky, ITAR-TASS.
