The Samson fountain is the Great Cascade's main fountain, its water pillar is almost 21 meters high. Samson, tearing the lion's mouth apart, the main hero of a spectacular show, is an allegory of the Russian army over Swedish invaders under Poltava. The fountain was set up in 1735 in commemoration of 25th anniversary of this event. It was cast by B. K. Rastrelli, author of the best bust and monument of Peter I, one of the brightest exponents of Peter's reforms epoch.
The celebration starts at 11.00 near the Great Cascade with the city's authorities speech. Then the guests will be able to watch small fire works and a ballet performance.
