A month dedicated to St. Petersburg’s 300th anniversary will be held in Austrian city Graz in 2003. Mariinsky theatre headed by Valery Gergiev will play on tour in Graz within the bounds of Petersburg’s month. Graz turns 875 years old in 2003, that is why the city will become a cultural capital of Europe for that time. As St. Petersburg celebrates its jubilee in 2003 too, it was decided to celebrate it in Europe’s cultural capital.
