An ancient anchor to become a memorial.

A memorial dedicated to the 300-year anniversary of St. Petersburg will soon appear on the Vasilyevsky Island, between the Rostral Columns.

A real ancient anchor, found while excavating on the Vasilyevsky Island, will be used as a memorial. The project of the memorial has already been developed – the anchor is to be placed at a granite plate, three by three meters, on which the Emblem of St. Petersburg will be depicted. The notice “Manufactured in 1723 at the Olonets plant. Found in 2001 on the Vasilyevsky Island. Mounted in the memory of 300-year anniversary of St. Petersburg” will be written on the side.
