The V event of the “Grand Prix of Figure Skating” Series – the Cup of Russia has started in St. Petersburg today.

The Global Prize Money for the fifth event of the World Series “ISU Grand Prix Cup of Russia – Gallina Blanca” will be USD 264 thou. (according to the International Skating Union). In particular, for the first place of each individual event a prize of USD 30 thou. will be awarded, for the second place – USD 18 thou., for the third – USD 10 thou., for the forth – USD 5 thou, for the fifth – USD 3 thou.

The competitions include four individual events: Ladies, Men, Pairs, Ice Dance. The best Russian and world figure skaters take part in the tournament: champions of Europe, vice-champions of the world Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze, champions of Europe and champions of the world of 2000 Maria Petrova and Alexei Tikhonov, a vice-champion of the world Irina Slutskaya, a winner of European and national championships Victoria Volchkova, a silver medallist of the Four Continents Championship Angela Nikodinov (USA), a champion of Europe and champion of the world Evgeni Plushenko, a winner of a national championship Matthew Savoie (USA), champions of the world and Europe in ice dancing Barbara Fusar-Poli and Maurizio Margaglio (Italy).

The closing day of the competitions is November, 25.
