The first Russian Regball Championship was held in St. Petersburg last weekend. Novosibirsk, Moscow, Perm, Cheljabinsk, Uljanovsk, Kaliningrad, Ekaterinburg and St. Petersburg teams were competing.

Regball, a mixture of basketball and wrestling, appeared several years ago while training of sportsmen, who, as it is known, like to play basketball as a warming-up, but never care about the rules. In May 1999 an all-Russian organization “Russian Federation of Regball” was established, in June regball got an official status of an independent kind of sport.
