Sergey Mironov became the successor of Egor Stroev, the Federation Council speaker. He represents the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg in the Upper Chamber. At the suggestion of the new speaker Egor Stroev was elected an honored chairman of the Federation Council. “We know how much Stroev has done to develop parliamentarism in Russia” – Mironov emphasized. According to his words, the new status of Stroev will allow the senators to “contact with him constantly”. Mironov has thanked his colleagues for trusting and told he hoped he would be able to “justify all expectations” of senators.
