Temporary posts of rescue service will be established on Ladoga and the Gulf of Finland

The posts are intended for winter-time, when the largest quantity of accidents connected with ice-floe break-offs occurs. Each post is supposed to be equipped with necessary rescue means and tools, including means of communication.

At the present time St. Petersburg disposes a rescue service and a regional search and rescue group, the staff of which is to be increased to 200 people by 2004.
