“The Person of the Year”

A Nobel Prize laureate Zhores Alferov was recognized to be the “person” of 2001. Such a title was given to the world-famous scientist by the journal “Persons”. The award ceremony was held yesterday evening in Moscow. Almost the whole Russian aristocracy gathered by the appointed time. But none knew who would be a winner. So, Valentina Matvieenko, Government Vice-Premier, won in the nomination “Government Style”. One more representative of the North Capital was awarded – Sergey Stepashin was called “The Person of St. Petersburg”.
