The giraffes of the St. Petersburg Zoo, Hamlet and Luga, delivered a daughter. The new-born animal has not been weighted and measured yet, but it is approximately more than 180 cm. Delivery lasted during four hours, and pregnancy for 14 months sharp. It is the seventh baby of Hamlet and Luga and the 27th giraffe calf born on banks of the Neva River.
It is interesting that giraffes from the St. Petersburg Zoo have held several records. So, the couple Malchik and Juliet have lived for 25 years in the zoo and delivered 12 babies, and their daughters and granddaughters have born 14 calves more.
