Work on a St. Petersburg guest card was started as a part of Stockholm and St. Petersburg's common program of tourist industry development. The prototype for a St. Petersburg card was the Stockholm guest card that provides free visits to 70 museums and use of city transport. The card can include a number of special tourist offers and be included in tourist services. In Stockholm such a service was introduced in 1982. This was the world's first experience that afterwards served as a base for developing guest cards in many other cities of the world, in particular in London. In the course of realization of the project, which is to be completed by March 2003, the Stockholm Informational Service will act as an expert from the Swedish party.
