The Cup of St. Petersburg 2002

at the competition of figure skating “The Cup of St. Petersburg 2002” The international competition of figure skating “The Cup of St. Petersburg 2002” has been held in Petersburg. Teams from Germany, Switzerland, Finland and Russia took part in the competitions. Russia was represented by 6 teams: from St. Petersburg, Kazan, Perm, Ekaterinburg, Novouralsk and Pervouralsk.

To remind, the world's first team of synchronous figure skaters was created 45 years ago, in 1957, in Ann Arbor (Michigan). In Russia synchronous figure skating appeared thanks to legendary Irina Rodnina. In 1990 she brought from Finland a videotape of Finnish sportsmen's performance, as well as the rules of this unusual kind of sport.
