The governor of Saint Petersburg Vladimir Jakovlev on Tuesday, September, 3, has met the president of figure skating of the Russian Federation Valentine Piseev. The question was the organization and realization of Grand Prix on fugure skating in the Ice Palace of Saint Petersburg in February, - March,2003.
The right for realization of these competitions by the decision of the International union of skaters is given to city on Neva as a recognition of deserts of St. Petersburg in development of this kind of sport. the comment of the president of the international Union of skaters Otario Chikvant about a level of the organization of the previous large international competitions on figure skating in the Ice Palace also has played a serious role in taking this decision. The parties also have discussed an opportunity of construction in the near future the House of figure skating - a special complex which,as it is planned, will include a comprehensive school, a boarding school and stadium for young figure skaters.
