It is not surprise that the City on Neva is the tram capital of the world. On streets of St. Petersburg about six hundred kilometers of tram ways are laid. This record is registered even in the Guinness record book. Today 1300 trams go in the streets of St. Petersburg. Daily they transport about 1,5 million persons. 9 tram parks and one combined tram-trolleybus park work in the city.
The tram-mechanical factory provides the Northern capital with a rolling stock. This year it is planned to buy 15 new cars. The part of them is equipped with the advanced economic and reliable asynchronous control system. The advanced technologies are applied at repair of ways too. Rails are laid on the concrete basis in special rubber linings that reduces noise and vibration during movement of a tram to minimum. Parade of trams was held September, 29 at the corner of Sadovaja street and Nevsky prospect. The retro-cars: "Americans", "Elephants", "Dandies" and even "Aquariums" have gone in the streets of the city. Besides on parade it was possible to look at the modern cars which are produced in St. Petersburg.
