Restoration of the sculpture group atop the Alexander Column in the Palace Square has been completed. Interfax reports that the working group of the Committee for Landmark Protection of St. Petersburg Administration and the City Museum of Culture accepted the work. The top of the column was restored along with the figures of the angel, the cross and the snake. The dome-shaped pedestal and the square cap of the column were also renovated. All the parts of the sculpture group atop the column are made of bronze. A protective layer was added to the surface. The bronze is now safe from the aggressive environment. Precipitation will be collected and the surface will be dried through a special air duct.
