This year the official ceremony and celebration dedicated to the opening of the Peterhof fountains will take place on June 7. This event used to take place in the end of May. For example, last year, the event took place on May 26.
Yet, this year, the ceremony was postponed because of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg. The fountains, however, will begin to function on May 9, and, on the same day, the Peterhof Museum & Preserve will start its summer schedule. For instance, the smaller palaces will be open not only on weekends (as in winter), but six days a week. In addition, beginning from May 9, it will be necessary to pay a fee to enter the Lower Park where most fountain complexes are located. At present, the working condition of the fountains is being checked up in the process of preparing them for the forthcoming summer season.
