Vladimir Yakovlev, the Governor of St. Petersburg, has signed an agreement with Rick Baker, the Governor of the American city of St. Petersburg. This agreement implies cooperation in economics and travel industry, as well as exchange of exhibitions between the museums of the two cities (for example, the Russian Museum and the Salvador Dali Museum) and a joint Wen project. In addition, Governor Yakovlev was awarded the title of an honorable citizen of American St. Petersburg.
Let us remind you that, in March 2002, an official visit of a delegation of the St. Petersburg City Administration to the U.S.A. took place. The visit was aimed at attracting the attention of the general public in America to the forthcoming celebration of the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg. In addition, in April 2002, a contract of cooperation was signed between the Russian Museum, the International Museum of Florida and the St. Petersburg (Florida) College. The contract covered the formation of the Center of Russian Art in St. Petersburg (Florida).
